“Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story.”

Tommy Caldwell: Founder and Director
For Tommy, athletics were always about more than the scoreboard. Sport is a classroom in itself, full of valuable lessons and experiences that build resilience, ambition, and work ethic in young people.
Over the last 20 years, he has mentored thousands of young athletes, helping them find their footing on the ice, in the gym, and in life. Whether he’s consulting for Junior and Collegiate programs or leading kids from all ages and abilities via GRIT Hockey, his mission remains the same: Character First.
Tommy brings unique expertise to the academy, combining a Masters in Business with professional training in Sports Psychology and Physiology- these traits in combination with his experience as a high-level multi-sport athlete gives him a rare perspective on the athletic and academic journey. He understands the science and practicality of the game just as well as the soul of it.
A Lucan resident, Tommy is raising three active kids—William, Evelyn, and Madelyn—alongside his wife, Laura.
Jaclyn Blacklock: Educator and Mentor
Jaclyn Blacklock brings a unique blend of academic rigor and a deep understanding of human performance to our Grade 4–6 classrooms. With a Master of Science in Organizational Behaviour and doctoral-level research in Work and Health, Jaclyn’s teaching is rooted in the science of motivation, wellbeing, and habit formation. Having served as an instructor and lecturer at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, she translates high-level pedagogical strategies into a structured, supportive environment for our young athletes.
Jaclyn recognizes that the middle-school years are a critical window for building the independence and resilience needed for long-term success.
